Casino Fandango

A closed down former hardware store structure became available for commercial development. The Carson City gaming market had several long established existing casino properties and had shown no growth for several years. Many “experts” predicted that the market could not sustain another casino property which resulted in little or no interest by lenders and investors.

Larry J. Woolf and architect Peter Wilday visualized the opportunity, acquired the property and became the developer and co-owner. Working with other Navegante personnel, feasibility and marketing studies were completed, layout and design completed, financing arrangements made and the structure converted into a casino. A small portion of the facility was initially converted with the remainder immediately following in phases. Navegante was responsible for all construction, FF&E and finishes, pre-opening details and managed the operation once completed. The facility was equipped with only the latest, state-of-the-art gaming equipment and systems along with high quality food and beverage outlets and amenities. The staff was recruited and trained to provide superior customer service to complement the quality facility and offerings.

Casino Fandango is now a high-energy, contemporary casino facility located in Carson City, Nevada catering primarily to locals. It includes over 750 slot machines, 12 table games, poker, keno, Lucky’s Race and Sports Book, multiple food and beverage outlets plus a multiplex movie theatre and a 100 room Courtyard Marriott hotel.

Casino Fandango was a success from the very beginning. Early success led to the expedited completion of the entire conversion project and additional amenities including a parking structure, movie theatre complex and hotel soon followed. Casino Fandango not only competed, but actually grew the Carson City gaming market. Casino Fandango’s gaming revenues for the first full year of operation equaled the increase in the overall market’s gaming revenues. Casino Fandango has consistently outperformed the market in terms of revenues and market share, with gaming device daily win per unit equaling 125% to 150% of market average. Casino Fandango has become the “casino of choice” in the Carson City market.
